Life long sharing . . .

Why am I writing so long about seabuckthorn here, today? Actually I have been thinking for quite long whether to put them here or not.

It’s not like this is sacred fruit 仙丹, can cure all disease. I still believe, at least for cancer case, need to make sure proper treatment is taken, also a change to healthier lifestyle, get rid off bad habits, then on top of that, getting all these trustable supplements might help.

But I got testimonial from people surrounding me, that seabuckthorn seems to help them.

An aunty living next next next door, who has kidney failure, has to undergo dialysis 3 times a week. Every 3 months, need to do a blood test, which always so lacking this and that in her blood. She told me after taking seabuckthorn, her blood test results always perfect. She said she could not have been able to take care of her grandson who is less than a year old and needs carrying a lot.

Ok. I thanked her for sharing.

Another aunty living at the back of my house, recently fell down and hit by stroke. Half of her body went paralyzed. Could not move her hand and leg. She was introduced this seabuckthorn. Luckily she has enough money and being desperate, she took 30 pills a day. Yesterday, she invited my house keeper over and showed my house keeper that she can walk now, without any help or stick.

I am so glad for her.

Then my Hubby shared that last time his ex-colleague who opted for early retirement, was suffering from major uric acid problem, until he could not stand up by himself, need his wife to help. After taking seabuckthorn, now he is back to work in another company. No more pain.

Thank God for the miracle.

All these stories surrounded me, plus the detail explanation with research details of seabuckthorn in this book, I made up my mind to share.

At least I believe Mother Nature still leaves us one miracle fruit to help ourselves. Hopefully those who processed the fruit will do it properly and there is no 黑心 product. Then we human beings still have hope.

Below is the research they did for 77 patients with tumours after radiotherapy , on whether seabuckthorn or other medication can help on reducing the side effects etc, and the results showed not 100%.

And the explanation on how seabuckthorn help in patient with blood vessel problem in the brain,

and the testimonial attached, is exactly like what my neighbour experienced.

Just thinking, if there is really no options out there for one’s disease, may be no harm trying seabuckthorn. Just that need to make sure can get a genuine one.

More about Seabuckthorn.

Below is some info I found on the net which is very closed to what is shared by Dr 陈卫华.

Seabuckthorn (Hippophae Rhamnoides) existed for more than 65 million years. Originating from Geological Age when the Himalayas was formed, seabuckthorn, containing over 250 bioactive ingredients, is a Wild Natural Medicinal Plant with a strong vitality and it is praised as “the Most Perfect Plant in the Whole World”and “the Human Health Savior in the 21st Century”. For its strong resistance, it also becomes the pioneer tree species for windbreak and sand fixation. Seabuckthorn has warded off sand and wind with its small body and cured numerous patients by its unyielding life for millions of years.

Mongolian legend also reveals that in the 13th century, the famous Mongol conqueror Genghis Khan credited Seabuckthorn with giving his armies the incredible strength and endurance they to conquer their enemies.

The effective use is recorded in history in ancient China and Central Asia in which it is said to have maintained excellent health and vigor of both men and horses. In modern times it goes to space as a special food, keeping astronauts well adapted to a complex and hectic space environment.

Sea buckthorn oil stands out in many medical traditions as a tonic including Chinese, Tibetan, Mongolian medicines, in which it was described as “God Sent Medicine”, “liquid gold”, “life oil”, etc. Chinese pharmacopeia classifies sea buckthorn oils as both food and medicine.

Since mid 1960s till today -USSR and China astronauts have been using Seabuckthorn as supplement to prevent the hazardous effects from radiation.

Then, my Hubby’s colleague who has been reading and doing research together with us, as his aunty is having lymphoma cancer, shared with me this book, by a Japanese professor, who invented the technology using CO2 to extract the nutrient oil from seabuckthorn seed. The seed is where all the precious nutrient are. And this seabuckthorn seed oil is FDA certified and safe for human consumption.

How do we get to know Seabuckthorn ?

Hubby and I did a lot of reading after I am diagnosed with cancer. I still remember one day Hubby brought back this wonderful book by Dr 陈卫华 (a Taiwan doctor who survives from 3 cancer in 20 years) (recommended by one of 余仁生 promoter) and started reading.

Then, like discovering new lands, he came to show me excitedly the chapters about supplements Dr 陈卫华 takes, his “抗癌三宝” (the three anti-cancer treasure). One of them is this wonderful fruit called:

Seabuckthorn 沙棘.

Below is the brief story of Dr 陈卫华, and another good news is he is coming to Malaysia to give a sharing on how he fight his cancers, on 26 Oct 2012, 7.30pm, at Sin Chew Jit Poh.

Dr 陈卫华 is now the Head of 台中宏信診所.

In 1986, at the age of 32 years old, he was diagnosed with Bone cancer, at his toe thumb. He did the surgery and treatment.

1n 1996, due to back ache, he went to do further check up, then was diagnosed with Kidney cancer. He did the surgery and treatment asap.

After going through two times of cancers, Dr 陈卫华  was a bit defeated and very worried whether his cancer will reoccur,  had spread or not. So, he seek help from his colleagues and other doctor friends to do all those X-ray, Ultra-sound, MRI, all sort of scan very frequently to monitor. Even though he was reminded of the danger of over exposure to all these harmful ray, he just ignored them. Until the third time cancer came knocking on his door – Thyroid cancer, in 2001, when he was 47 years old.

From then onwards, he changed his lifestyles, eat healthy food, exercise, sleep early, etc. Now, 11 years later, at the age of 58, he is free from cancer.

Had my total thyroidectomy surgery early this week.

My total serum calcium reading was 2.04 mmol/l on the first day after the surgery, and 1.98 on the second day. (normal range is 2.25-2.5 mmol/l).

Doctor prescribed some vitamin D.

After the second day, started to have hoarse voice or lose my voice most of the time.

Last night couldn’t sleep well, suddenly so many things flashing in my mind. Can it be the symptom “Rapid Thoughts” ? I don’t know.

And I had a little period though it’s not my menstrual cycle now. ..

And a lot of things my hubby did or didn’t do annoyed me now…

Sigh …

As I will not be given thyroxin hormone until after the Radio Iodine-131 therapy, guess have to watch out for the Hypothyroid symptoms listed below.

Something I found very useful to me and my family, Chinese educated,Chinese speaking and not so good in English people.

My dad has been suffering knee pain and recently is not able to walk as the pain is unbearable when he stands up. Brought him to see specialist in private hospital and he has been diagnosed that both his knees cartilage are damaged. The only option now is to undergo knee joint replacement surgery.

Though he is a retired government servant and doing the operation in a government hospital will be free of charge for him, he needs to wait for a month just to meet the specialist, and not sure how long it will take to finally get a place to do the surgery. After discussion with my siblings, we have decided to go for private hospital.

For both knees, it will cost us RM34,000, not inclusive of the follow-up physiotherapy. It’s not cheap.

It triggers me to think if an elderly who has no children and no medical insurance, isn’t it sad if he / she has to spend all their lifetime savings in hospitals?

I personally think, for single, no children, no need to keep a portion of money for children education, it’s crucial to buy medical insurance. Nowadays, here in this country, at least in the coming few years, you really need to have a good medical card to enjoy treatment in a good hospital.  . . .

We have been bringing dad to see a lot of doctors, .. cardiology, gastroenterology, multiple blood tests and scanning, go round and round, but dad is still very sleepy and fatigue, but show improvement in appetite.

Today, we were given a reference to see Doctor Usha, a chest specialist. After examined my dad and going through his x-ray and blood test result, we came to a conclusion that on top of some the under controlled sickness, my dad is most probably having depression. My dad don’t understand english, and Doctor Usha talked to my dad in Malay telling him that his health is in good shape, must go walk walk, read some newspaper, watch some tv, go out the room and look at the flowers outside. She shaked his hand when we left.

When we are back at home, my dad seems to be so cheer up already, he smiled and told us the doctor said “I am ok”.  And he started to use his wheelchair by himself….

What I am trying to say is that, a good doctor not just examine and read the report, they read the patient mind and help them to walk out the cloudy day.

An informative email I received from a friend:

Subject: Info on H1N1

Dear all,

Following is some good info I received from the Principal of GIIS that was sent by one of the parents.

With the constant fear of H1N1 symptoms, the following measures can be practiced by one and all. This is information which I just received from my father who is a Consultant General Surgeon & Gastoenterologist, based in India and I do hope it could be beneficial to the students and their families alike.

Tamiflu does not kill but prevents H1N1 from further proliferation till the virus limits itself in about 1-2 weeks (its natural cycle). H1N1, like other Influenza A viruses, only infects the upper respiratory tract and proliferates (only) there. The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/ throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it’s almost impossible not coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps – not fully highlighted in most official communications – can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. “Hands-off-the-face” approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap).

3. Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don’t trust salt). H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don’t underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above, clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.

5. Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc/bioflavonoids to boost absorption.

6. Drink as much of warm liquids as you can. Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

All these are simple ways to prevent, within means of most households, and certainly much less painful than to wait in long queues outside public hospitals.

I do hope, this information could be passed on to one and all, for a healthy and H1N1 free environment.

With regards

Best Regards

Today I brought dad to do a CT scan. But I didn’t know that to perform a CT Scan of the abdomen, we should not have anything to eat for at least 4 hours. Need to have fasting. Same apply to gastrointestinal endoscopy procedure. The best is fasting after the dinner the night before.

Luckily after such a long wait in the hospital, the result turned out to be fine. At least not the C that huanted me the whole night. What a relief.

I heard from a friend’s friend that her mother was having the same symptoms as dad: excessive sleepiness, bloating( a lot of winds), fatigue, loss of appetite, and after seeking fews doctors and no answer given, finally met one good one who did a CT scan and discovered she had pancreatic cancer.

After hearing this, my heart sink like Titanic. Fast fast go check it out from the net.

Pancreatic Cancer Symptoms

The main symptoms of pancreatic cancer include the following:

  • Pain in the abdomen, the back, or both
  • Weight loss, often associated with the following:
    • Loss of appetite
    • Bloating
    • Diarrhea or fatty bowel movements that float in water (steatorrhea)
    • Rarely may present with new diabetes in a person with weight loss and nausea
  • Jaundice (yellowing of the skin)

The symptoms of pancreatic cancer are generally vague and can easily be attributed to other less serious and more common conditions. This lack of specific symptoms explains the high number of people who have a more advanced stage of disease when pancreatic cancer is discovered.

By the time that pancreatic cancer is diagnosed, most people already have disease that has spread to distant sites in the body. Pancreatic cancer is also relatively resistant to medical treatment, and the only potentially curative treatment is surgery.
