Was reading this together with my daughters.
“We tend to show temper to our family and show good manners to others.”
Sometimes, Ling do complain that her little sister was being so nice to her friends; but at home, she was not so nice.
I purposely asked Ying to read it loud for all of us, then I asked, “Is it true?”
Ying smiled and said, “Ya, sometimes..” then, the conversation side tracked to discussion of the picture, the monster looking kid, and the devil looking “others”.
My housekeeper told me, “Be patient, just try our best to teach them. Give them time. They are young, and might need some time to really comprehend all this and make the change.”
Watched this video clip together with my girls. It is a 2008 American drama film based on the book by Brad Cohen, “Front of the Class: How Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had”.
I personally like this part (from 10:48): when
In his speech (he was receiving the Teacher of the Year award), Brad Cohen said, “What can I possibly learn from this disability?”
His students answered:
“You learn to keep going.”
“You learn not to let it stop you.”
“You learn not to let it win.”
And Brad added, “to never let anything stop you from chasing your dream…”
After watching, my girls kept on asking if the disease do really really exist; do we still have people suffering from that? Really don’t have cure…
