I like to read a column in Sin Chew Jit Poh where it provides book preview and some good recommendation for leisure reading. One of the book recommendated is this one “想飞”, by “游乾桂”.
One thing I agree a lot is “讀書之外, 人生還有許多可能”. There are still other things in life besides studying. One thing the author brought up is that according to research, the poorest people in the society are usually those so call “知識份子” (I translate it to ‘scholar’ here, as I can’t think of a more proper one, poor English).
In the book, it mentioned that they are categorized as ‘poorest’ not because their earning are the lowest, but because they normally have a fixed job, fixed income, and being a scholar that only study and study and study hard, they have less creativity and less inovative mindset to look for extra income, lack ability to create opportunity to earn extra money.
Very interesting indeed. I shall try to get this book and read about it.
