Maths Olympiad – one tough series question

Posted on: October 7, 2016

This is a tough series question I bumped into in FB. And oh my, it’s Primary 3 question.

Find A in the following series:

24, 36, 72, 90, A

Answer (by Eugene Ng Ming Teck ):

2x3x2x2 =24
2x3x2x3 =36
2x3x3x4 =72
2x3x3x5 =90

2x3x4x6 =144 (A)
2x3x4x7 =168 (next number to show pattern)

A should be 144
2x3x4x6=144 not 120
