Science Primary 4 – Respiratory System

Posted on: February 12, 2015

This video gives an intro to primary school children on our respiratory system.

First it introduces “Oxygen”氧气 – ‘fresh air’ breathed in to our body, and “Carbon Dioxide” 二氧化碳 – ‘dirty air’ which we breathe out.

Then, it goes through each part of our respiratory system and explaining how it functions.

I like the animation showing how Alveoli performs the exchange of Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen in blood.

And in the video, it shows an experiment on how lungs and diaphragm work using rubber and balloon. I believe this is also done in the classroom, and the below are teacher’s favourite exam questions.

E.g.: Choose the correct answer.

1. When we breathe in:

Diaphragm 横隔膜 (goes down 往下移,goes up往上移),  and Lungs 胸腔 (expand 扩张,contract 收缩).

2. When we breathe out:

res4

Diaphragm 横隔膜 (goes down 往下移,goes up 往上移),  and Lungs 胸腔 (expand 扩张,contract 收缩).
